Arlen Bento Jr. is an award winning Golf Professional with over 17 years experience in the golf industry.
Arlen is a nationally recognized expert in club fitting as it relates to golf instruction, golf course operations, golf course customer service and golf based Internet technologies. He is an expert in all facets of golf launch monitor industry, golf video analysis software use and golf club fitting in static and dynamic forms. Arlen has written many articles for publication for various golf associations. He has been a guest speaker and lecturer at many golf industry functions.
Arlen is the former Head Golf Professional of the PGA Country Club in Port St. Lucie Florida and the Director of Golf at Eagle Marsh Country Club in Jensen Beach. Arlen has won three national awards in the golf industry including two Golf Digest "Four Star" awards and one Golf Shop Operations "Service Ace" for customer service.
Arlen is a active member of the International Professional Golf Association, World Golf Teachers Federation, United States Golf Teachers Federation and the United States Golf Club Managers Associaiton. He has also been the President on the Professional Clubfitters Associaiton and contributing writer to Teaching Pro Magazine.
Arlen started in the golf business as an Assistant Golf Professional in Hawaii after graduating from the University of Hawaii with a degree in Political Science with emphasis is Economics and Speech Communication. He worked as an Assistant Golf Professional at the prestigious Oahu Country Club in Honolulu and then moved to the Barbers Point Golf Club in Ewa Beach as an Assistant Professional where he earned his PGA Class "A" Membership.
After attaining his PGA Class "A" Membership, Arlen moved to Florida to pursue a career as a Tournament Player. After an unsuccessful season of playing golf full time he earned a position as the Head Golf Professional at PGA Country Club at the PGA Village in Port St. Lucie. At the time Arlen was one of only two Head Golf Professionals hired directly by the PGA of America to manage a golf facility owned by the PGA.
After four years at PGA Country Club he accepted a position as the Director of Golf at Eagle Marsh Golf Club in Jensen Beach. Arlen left his position at Eagle Marsh to pursue a new career as full time golf instructor and club fitter. As he was developing his instruction business he became very knowledgeable in all types of launch monitors, video analysis equipment and club fitting. This knowledge lead into new ventures and Arlen was offered sales positions by leading golf launch monitor companies. Over a period of three years his sales business sold over 200 launch monitors in Florida and across the U.S.
Arlen kept developing his lesson business and sales business together until the sales business reached the point that it required all of his attention and efforts. He is now focused in his sales business and provides limited golf instruction, primarily to junior players.
Currently Arlen is the owner of ABJ Golf Sales. ABJ Golf Sales is a golf industry sales and marketing business that represents different golf companies in South East Florida. Arlen and his professional sales staff sell products and provide event services to over 30 golf retail stores and 120 golf courses.
Arlen is also involved with the Pine School in Hobe Sound & Stuart as the Head Golf Coach and operates advanced summer junior golf camps and structured private lesson improvement programs.
Arlen lives in Jensen Beach with his wife Julie and two sons’ ages 12 and 10. When he is not working he enjoys playing golf, boating, fishing and spending time with his family.
